Guardian is our patent-pending deep packet inspection (DPI) system, that's currently used by National Networks, IP carriers and cellular providers to audit and filter IP (Internet Protocol) traffic at the principle Telecommunication Exchanges.

Guardian reads and instantly analyses millions of data packets passing through its sensors at the national gateway. Specific data is then identified and analyzed to discover key information including the individual origin and destination of the data. This information is automatically catalogued by the Guardian system and includes forensic data on individual users such as specific IP addresses and MAC (machine) identifiers. Guardian is available in two configurations: inline or offline. Our inline solution is scalable to in excess of 10GB and utilises the latest hardware developments to ensure minimal latency.

Our offline Guardian configuration does not interfere with IP traffic (traffic does not flow directly through the system), and this means that the system is not a point of failure within the network. We work with Government Regulators to determine what kind of information they're looking for and what type of traffic or application they'd like to control. Guardian can then instantly filter traffic on the network by blocking illegal protocols and applications, whilst allowing legitimate licensed traffic to travel unimpeded.

Illegal VoIP (Grey Traffic) causes National networks to lose substantial revenues associated with international PSTN traffic (traditional landline calls). In some countries, we have proven this loss can extend to the 10’s or 100’s of millions of dollars. Removing illegal traffic from networks also adds other benefits such as improving the amount of available bandwidth. This directly reduces the amount of capacity networks require and reduces Operator expenditure. The principle impact of an unregulated network, though, is the decline in taxable profits that support local Government and national infrastructure. The Bitek Guardian system has a proven record of resolving these issues, and allows national networks to be managed in line with Government telecom regulations regarding illegal voice traffic.
